White Heron Dairy

Gus Goldsack dropped us a line about his local dairy and their new blog. He writes:

On my trip last night to purchase some good old fashioned eggs, I was shocked to discover that my local dairy, along with its brand new owners, now sports a brand spanking new blog for The White Heron Dairy in Parnell. Now correct me if I’m wrong, but this is quite possibly THE most unnecessary website on the whole entire internet — right up there with the Virtual Bubble Wrap site. This may very well be 2006, but what on earth has happened to getting on your feet and going for a walk, as well as popping some good old fashioned real bubble wrap (MUCH more satisfying).Topics such as the very interesting piece on the small changes to their magazine rack, while utterly fascinating, are surely most easily discovered by actually VISITING the dairy, don’t you think? Its claim as “Parnell’s best known dairy” is quite possibly substantiated, as far as I can think the only competition for this title is the Wyvern on Parnell Rd, which is less than half the size of a shoebox, and the aptly named Hilltop Superette (although the Hilltop’s status as a dairy, rather than a superette, is debatable).”

Shhh, listen… that sound you’re hearing is from thousands of computer keyboards nationwide, clattering away as they add the White Heron Dairy to their blogrolls…

Matt & Ian. Call me old fashioned, but they don’t sound like dairy owners to me!

  • Mong says:

Well, they sell some cool stuff. How long til the franchise?

  • Robyn says:

From reading this blog, it sounds the dairy in question is halfway between a classic dairy and a deli. So really, a blog kind of fits.

And it’s alerted me to the existence of the Devonport Farmers Market the next one of which is this Sunday. (But, hang on, there aren’t any farms in Devonport…)

I could make a blog for my ass and it would be better and interesting than that blog :\

  • Robyn says:

t94xr, I’d be careful making claims like that, if I were you, young man.

I mean, this isn’t exactly kicking the arse of this in the interestingness stakes.

What a screwed up idea. I wonder if this is the start of a worrying new trend…

    Maybe BP stations?

“Today we had a van come in, and stall when they left”

    sigh

  • Gus says:

It’s definately not a cross between a dairy and a deli… it’s pretty much just a dairy. It’s the same kind of dairy that would be perfectly at home in Otara, or Henderson, as well as Parnell….

Interesting comments but hey you visited the blog. Just our way of communicating with our customers – ok the magazine rack may not have been the best post but then are other issues that seem relevant – particularly, in the days of hyper markets the need to support local businesses.

As for the deli and the dairy – we have future plans so maybe the dairy will be somewhat out of place in Otara or Henderson
