Motor Shoes

We thought the Sedgeway had it tough, what with the recall and all. But this photo of a woman modelling some “Motor Shoes”, published in 1952 (that’s what it says in tiny print at the bottom) proves that the idea of motorised pedestrian transport has been around for quite some time.
Presumably the art to operating this form of transport is in pressing the throttle buttons simultaneously, so that both feet go at roughly the same speed and hopefully in the same direction.
If it exists, we’d like to see the photo taken seconds after, in which the operator goes ass-over-kite. And we have to wonder if these were actually inspired by the fictional Acme Corporation, suppliers to the venerable Wile E. Coyote.
