Top Five Examples Of ‘Shockvertising’
posted by Ana Samways at 11:49 am
1. A surreal ad from an outfit called Concordia Children’s Services in the US, who provide care for abandoned children. The caption says “If you don’t feed them, who will?”.

2. Road safety ad from New Zealand ad agency Clemenger BBDO. The faster you go the bigger the offal cocktail?

3. A German Aids/HIV awareness campaign says “it’s easy to lose your head when you’re horny”.

4. An ad agency in Brussels did this Goose-gimp for a Belgian animal rights group. Foie gras – or “fatty liver” – is very popular in Belgium and most people don’t know it’s made from the grotesquely enlarged livers of ducks and geese, the result of force-feeding. The campaign was supposed to be displayed in Belgian railway stations… but were considered too shocking and pulled.
5. Lead by example: You don’t have to understand French to get this ad about domestic violence.

Love ‘em. I can’t get Maud Flanders ‘won’t someone think of the children’ out of my head now.
They’re all a lot clevererer than those GM ads with the 4 breasted ladies that everyone was making a song and dance about.
