The infamous Myer department store in Melbourne suffered a terrible positioning faux pas when two mechanical koalas appeared to be ‘going at it’ in their Christmas window display.

According to the Sydney Morning Herald The two koalas – part of Myer’s famous Christmas window displays that take place every year and attract thousands of people- were supposed to be helping each other get into donkey outfits, but instead appeared to be ‘coupling’.

“We had a couple of customers’ complaints that it might have been a bit suggestive and so we went and had a look and made some slight adjustments earlier this week,” said a spokesman for the company.

The adjustments meant removing one of the mechanical koalas from the display.

The spokesman also wanted to reassure customers that the koalas’ performance wasn’t intended.

We have already posted theme tunes for our favourite retro TV show, now here’s the YouTube clips. Guaranteed to take you back to a time of Friday nights in front of the Visor fireplace wearing your legwarmers, sporting a steps haircut, trying to decide who would make the better boyfriend (Ponch or John), admiring Laura Ingalls’ plucky disposition and wondering how far off a real-life bionic man was…Well, that’s if you’re over 30; the rest of you can just enjoy the kitsch.

More after the jump…

Last weekend’s Qantas TV Awards opened with a clip based on what they do at the Oscars and Golden Globes — have the host/s seamlessly drop into various television shows or films on his/her way to the ceremony.

This year’s New Zealand industry awards were hosted by TV3’s heavily pregnant brand Petra Bagust and TV2 Idol brand Dominic Bowden and were based on the slightly uncomfortable premise that Bowden was the father of god-bothering Bagust’s yet-to-be-born baby. Overall we were pleasantly surprised with the effort. View it here.

(TV3 wouldn’t YouTube it for us, but kindly uploaded it to their site)

Shawshank In A Minute

posted by Steven Shaw at 7:35 am

You may have noticed that celebrities often cite The Shawshank Redemption as their favourite movie ever. In fact, it’s got to the point where Tourettes-like instinct takes over and they holler “Shawshank” at every opportunity. We doubt half of them have seen the darned thing. So, for the benefit of any celebrities out there who haven’t seen it (and would like to pretend they have), here’s a distilled, one-minute version of said film — done in the style of the Beastie Boys.
