Thank God I’m An Atheist
posted by Ana Samways at 9:40 am“Thank God I…” is a series of books in development with working titles like Thank God I Was Raped, Thank God I Have Cancer, Thank God My Baby Died — the idea being, that you really should be grateful to god for the shit life flings because the adversity will make you a better person.
And it appears to be a genuine self-help religious propaganda money making scam which is further endorsed by the deluded participants saying out loud “Thank God I…[insert personal trauma here] — in the same manner as going to AA to say “My name is …and I’m an alcoholic”.
Brain washed by the twaddle spouted by a couple of con-artists headed by John Castagnini, who has avoided putting a face to his name anywhere.
The books are a vanity publication –pay to have your work published deal.
Imagine…Your story published in the most Inspirational & Influential book series on the planet! Wouldn’t it be great to be a Published Writer, share your personal life story with the world, create increased credibility with your clients and customers AND earn a royalty?
Reminds us of Alister Taylor’s New Zealand Who’s Who Aotearoa. He solicited fees from people here and in Australia who has status anxiety promising inclusion in a prestigious book which didn’t exist.
The comments on Metafilter are great.
Oh, and one more title from their list…”Thank God I Masturbate”.

Thank God I… hadn’t just eaten or I’d be thanking God for being bulimic right now.

Why is masturbation considered a personal tragedy, esp one on the scale of rape, abuse, and drug addiction? Some people must be doing it wrong.

Thank God My Priest Raped Me I was going to suggest something worse but considering the recent tragedy in Hawera this is bad tase enough. What’s ‘funny’ (sick?) about this website/movement is that there are Christians out there who believe it …

Yes, but then Christians are notoriously gullible, Omigod. All that rising from the dead stuff, ffs…..

“thank god I am a virgin” that is a personal tragedy??? well, I suppose it probably is to most christian teenagers??!
April 9th, 2007 at 9:45 am
being a virgin till you are married is not a tragedy…. i wish i hadnt had sex till i married. I would have no regrets!! dont bash christian ways till you understand the heart and purpose behind it.

Caldiza – was being facetious. But I will keep speaking my views about christianity and other ways as it is my right to speak my mind. I believe I have a good enough understanding of the ‘heart and purpose behind it’ to continue knocking it – so maybe you should jump to conclusions that I don’t have that understanding.

Sorry – wrote that last comment too fast – My last sentence should read: “so maybe you shouldn’t jump to conclusions that I don’t have that understanding”

Just because a group of people create a rubbish concept to make money doesn’t mean they represent the truth or anything.
If I write on your behalf – does that automatically make you fit the mold of who I say you are?
