BACON.final.jpgBacon Causes Lung Disease: Columbia University research has concluded that people who ate cured meats at least 14 times a month were more likely to have chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.

Bacon eaters are more likely to be male and of a lower socio-economic status, and to be smokers, but researchers say these factors were taken into account and still blame the bacon — specifically the nitrites used to preserve the pig meat. Really.

Bad Day on the Job: A 17 year-old apprentice plumber has burned down a £5 million mansion after a soldering task during his first day on the job went up in smoke. Fire ripped through the eight-bedroom historic mansion in Kingswear, Devon after polystyrene insulation caught alight from the flame of a blow torch the teen was using. More from the Daily Mail .
