Rugby in the Capital of Love
posted by Ana Samways at 3:52 pm
An ad campaign trying to attract Londoners to Paris might make staunch rugby fans squirm. One of the ads the Regional Tourism Committee has commissioned is based on the World Cup and features what can only be described as a full-on-front-row-scrum-pash between France and England.
Reminds us of those famous words from All Black great Colin Meads when All Black liberal Anton Oliver posed nude for an artist…”We’re meant to be salt of the earth, down-to-earth, grassroots, bloody good guys,” Meads said. “You don’t pose bloody nude, or get a painting of yourself in the nude.”
They might’ve missed the mark with rugby fans, but we think it’s fabulous… (full image after the jump)

Guys, sorry to burst your bubbles but I’ve dated of rugby players who look just like the guys in this picture… They’re blokes who just happen to like blokes.
The ad is supposed to be eyecatching and funny anyway…

Actually there are dozens of gay rugby teams worldwide. There’s even a gay rugby world cup!

Aha! I see -it’s about how the game is starting to reflect the contemporary dichotomy between convergent sexualities and the subtle link between aggression and the procreative urge
