Abba: If Looks Could Kill
posted by Ana Samways at 2:54 pm
ABBA, comprising Benny Andersson, Björn Ulvaeus and their respective girlfriends (then wives, then ex-wives) Anni-Frid Lyngstad and Agnetha Fältskog, were huge in their day.
The Swedish pop group sold more than 370 million albums worldwide during the peak of their fame from the mid-70s through the early 80s, and Andersson and Ulvaeus now probably live off the royalties of their hit stage musical Mamma Mia, based on 24 of their hit songs. There’s also the inevitable film version coming up, starring Meryl Streep and Pierce Brosnan.
But any chance of an ABBA reunion is fraught with peril due to the fallout from divorce and petty jealousies, the latter unintentionally played out in front of the TV cameras in this clip…

Wow — talk about a lot of build up for nothing. Methinks you are reading way too much into a nudge. Clearly, both girls were having a laugh and both flirted with each other’s husbands. This song was written (and performed) while they were still all getting along, as well.

On August 26, 1992, Lyngstad married her longtime boyfriend, Prince Heinrich Ruzzo Reuss of Plauen (May 24, 1950 – October 29, 1999). Upon marriage, Lyngstad acquired the title of Her Serene Highness Princess Anni-Frid Reuss of Plauen.

Let’s hope she doesn’t make an appearance on the Swedish equivalent of “Dancing with the Stars”, as she would definitely be making an early exit.

Frida is way hotter than Agnetha. I admit – that haircut isn’t doing her any favours, but really. The blonde one isn’t even a contender.

You cannot be serious! Agnetha always got far more male attention. Not only was she blonde, with classic nordic looks, but she had better curves and was younger.

This made me laugh – particulary as I’m in an Abba Tribute Band
