Deadline Hollywood Daily reports that Warner Bros president of production Jeff Robinov has decreed the studio is “no longer doing movies with women in the lead.” Apparently this is because a number of movies with female leads, including Jodie Foster’s The Brave One and Nicole Kidman’s Invasion, haven’t pulled their weight at the box office. Noted women’s rights attorney Gloria Allred comments on the site: “It is truly unfortunate that women get blamed for decisions which are made by men.”…
There goes the recording industry: during last week’s US file-sharing case (Capitol Records vs. Jammie Thomas), a Sony/BMG rep admitted that record labels have spent “millions” on the lawsuits and then added that “we’ve lost money on this program.” A very interesting money pit it seems — you have to wonder what the artists think of this additional drain on the bottom line…

Anderson’s directing skills on this project have been compared to Stanley Kubrick, Terrence Malick and Robert Altman.
