NZ makes it to the Global Incident Map: It’s for the other week’s powder scare in South Canterbury; no doubt the Eastern Bay of Plenty’s alleged terror cell will make it to the map soon. The Global Incident Map updates every 460 seconds. Wow!
A collection of TV theme songs, including the Sopranos if you’re missing it. Mighty Mouse is brilliant and I couldn’t remember how the X-Files theme went. Full collection here.
Television: It’s all good for Eating Media Lunch which managed gets a good review without breaching any broadcasting codes despite the item about a pornographic film with a chicken. Not so for ALT TV who got bitch-slapped by the BSA for letting viewers txt in racist comments during Groove in the Park.
In 43 years we’ll be having sex with robots, apparently.
Ugly Models talent all look beautiful to me. Is it supposed to be ironic?
The story of daycare worker Kelly Michaels, who was falsely accused of child abuse, is a fascinating read, which can’t help but remind New Zealanders of the Christchurch Civic Creche case where Peter Ellis who was also a victim of what many believe to be hysteria of the time. I remember social shift toward therapy, re-found memories and talk of cults and every second woman aged under 35 had experience sexual abuse. But this article describes what may have led to the paranoia about childcare centres and abuse as…
” the mass exodus of mothers from the home to the workplace in the ’70s and ’80s, which gave rise to a lot of stress and free-floating guilt and, in some quarters, condemnation; then there were the pioneering child- protection crusaders, flush with new federal dollars to ferret out abuse; and the vulnerability of minimum-wage child care providers who found themselves cast in the role of the bogeyman in the closet.”

Thanks for the asshole flyers. I have printed some off. The risk of my current method, leaving a note saying “How many parks do you fucking need?” on a random piece of paper from my car, is that one day I will slip up and use something with my contact details on it. Amen and thank you.
