Spoon — coming to Big Day Out 2008

The second lineup announcement for BDO 2008 was made yesterday, and the acts are: US indie rockers Spoon (pictured), UNKLE, Scribe, Supergroove, UK DJ Carl Cox, Brit beats duo Krafty Kuts & Dynamite MC, British sensations Enter Shikari, Westie punk rockers Bleeders, old-school Pittsburgh punkers Anti-Flag, The Nightwatchman (AKA Tom Morello from Rage Against the Machine), ex-Salmonella Dub-turned-solo artist Tiki Taane, Dr Octagon (AKA Kool Keith) and Kutmasta Kurt, Triple J faves Operator Please, London songstress Kate Nash, indie rapper Aceyalone, NYC duo Shy Child, Long Island hardcore sons Brand New, and other locals including Liam Finn, Op Shop, Pluto, Die! Die! Die!, Havoc, Collapsing Cities (winners of Most Promising award at last week’s BNets), the return of Dam Native, The Checks.

That sounds like enough for a festival by itself, but it’s in addition to these acts, which were previously announced:
Rage Against the Machine, Bjork, Arcade Fire, Shihad, LCD Sound System, Dizzee Rascal, Billy Bragg, The Clean, Katchafire, The Phoenix Foundation, SJD, Grinspoon, Cut Off Your Hands, Hilltop Hoods, Paul Kelly, Battles, Young Sid, Antagonist, Motocade, White Birds & Lemons

And while the promoters said last week that there would be only two announcements this year, they’ve back-tracked, saying they will make a final lineup announcement on Dec 12 (keep an eye on the Big Day Out website). In the meantime, here’s “the underdog”, from Spoon’s 2007 US top ten album Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga:
