Tour Diaries — Anna Coddington
posted by Steven Shaw at 9:58 am
The latest diary instalment from singer-songwriter Anna Coddington, who is currently touring NZ as part of Tim Guy’s band, and who has her own solo album up her sleeve…
Sometimes I wonder if it would be better to live by yourself because then the dishes would always go into the dishwasher in the most logical order which maximises use of space (i.e. big plates at the back, small plates at the front so there’s not two big plates side by side, because the dishwasher isn’t wide enough for that). And I wonder if the benefits of that would outweigh the benefits of human company, and I think they probably wouldn’t. I like my flatmates a lot.
My garden is doing very well, thank you. (No one actually asked me about my garden). We went to the plant barn and bought terracotta pots so that the seedlings could grow bigger before we put them in the garden because last time we put them in they were too small and got eaten in 3 days. To death. But soon there will be so many tomatoes we’ll have to think of hundreds of ways to eat tomatoes because it can’t just always be avocado and tomato on toast even though that’s the best way, because to get sick of that one would be a tragedy indeed.
On Wednesday I’ll play at Shanghai Lils in Auckland for Tim Guy’s “tour launch show”. And the next day we’ll go to New Plymouth, then Kapiti Coast and so on and so forth as outlined in my show schedule on my profile. It is going to be really good times. Instead of Anika playing the bass now we have Ned Ngatae playing bass because Anika has her own tour in December now and can’t make it. But it’s good because Ned is really good and also handsome.
My aims for the tour are:
1) Meet a lot of nice/interesting/ordinary people
2) Get better at singing/playing guitar/playing drums/meeting people
3) Find cheap but great Christmas presents for my family (sorry friends- no room in the budget for
you this year)
4) Begin my quest to win over the country one person at a time
I shot a video for “Hold You Here” last week. Jos Wheeler shot it actually. Him and his crew. And my belief is that it’s going to be really good. Hopefully it will be on the telly in January. They still have to edit it and do other filmo things that I don’t understand because I’m a “muso” not a “filmo”. That’s all.
