Hybrid vs Train
posted by Ana Samways at 12:08 pmA very close call for this idiot in a Toyota Prius who tries to cross the train tracks when the barrier arm is down and surprise, surprise there’s a train coming! He/she nearly stomped out their carbon footprint completely.

Didn’t know the new Toyota Prius could drive through train crossing barriers. That is one smart car.

I was two hours late for work a few weeks ago when two cars tried to do that at the round about/train crossing in New Lynn. The first car made it through in a similar fashion to this Toyota, the second one didn’t. It was a miracle noone was killed!!

It’s a pity the train missed. The sooner all these idiots are disposed of the better it will be on the roads for normal people.

It’s good that the train missed Bern. I know you think they deserve to be hit by the train, but you must think of the poor train drivers who hit people that are killed and how it effects them. Even though they have no hope of stopping a lot of the poor train drivers still feel guilty at the loss of life caused by their trains. Better they miss for that reason!

@Ben: The barrier only goes down on one side of the road, hence why it turns before it passes the barrier. Obviously a country where they drive on the right side of the road (which is actually the wrong side!!)
And I agree with Bern, anyway the train drivers hardly drive the trains these days, theyre mostly done by computers and the rails. I mean what is there to do? Not steering!

Trains have drivers James. Read up a little on train drivers and you will see that is still a very active duty with many important tasks.. and yes think of the poor driver of the train and fire/ambulance crews.

If train drivers don’t do anything, James, why do you think the horn sounded? Think that’s automatic too? And there isn’t a robot that shovels the car off the tracks, or takes the body to the morgue. There seems to be an idea nowadays that ‘it’s ok for people to die if they’re idiots’. Everyone does stupid stuff and thank God most of the time we don’t die for it!

Don’t you mean ’sometimes WE’RE better off without them’???
I think you’ve just condemned yourself to death.
