The Harry Potter books have been redesigned to look like Penguin Classics.
Internet trickery: Devolve Me figures that since we all evolved from apes and are wholly narcissistic, it might be fun to see what you would have looked like way back then. Upload your photo and see yourself devolve into something Dr. Zaius-like right before your eyes (making an excellent Facebook profile picture). And check out the Lolinator which allows you to add a laugh track to any of your favourite You Tubes (it also includes a ‘whoop, whoop’, an ‘awww’ and a ‘boo’). Try it with John Key’s Big Gay Out squat and wiggle dance routine.
To celebrate The Simpsons going HDTV, there’s a brand new title sequence. Watch it here.
A US scientist says people living on tree-lined streets are happier, healthier and less likely to be victims of crime. (No shit sheila? That’s why they call them the ‘leafy suburbs’)
Why there are women-only train carriages in Japan: At the Shibuya Pink Girl’s Club in Tokyo, men pay upwards of US$130 to grope the girl of their choice on a simulated subway train.
“The connoisseur picks out from the menu the girl of his choice, dressed either as a schoolgirl or office receptionist. This girl then beckons him through the window of a mock-up train carriage, which not only broadcasts station announcements, but even shakes and rattles.”
Picture this: What being knocked up with eight babies at once looks like at full term.
New York man Muzzammil Hassan, who founded a pro-Islam TV station to combat the negative public image of Muslims, is currently under arrest for beheading his wife. Here’s the caption the Australian Daily Telegraph went with, under a picture of him and his late wife…
Video: Following the thread in Sideswipe about the strange requests librarians get, a reader sent in this short film of animated archive images called “photograph of jesus” about all the impossible requests the Getty photo librarian has been faced with, including pictures of dog fights above London in the battle of Britain, long before telescopic lenses, or a photograph or a Yeti or a DoDo in action.

That photo library film is really sweet. I love the librarian droll, British tone of voice. He just makes it. And did octomum’s grotesque stomach make anyone else think of the egg-laying Alien queen from “Aliens”? Bleurggh!
