the speights southern man ads never get old, loads of people still enjoy watching the old ads on you tube, and theres a second “great southern finishing school” ad now.

Isn’t the anchor girl now advertising sensodine toothpaste? The one where she says she dove under a wave and thought she’d swallowed a jellyfish?

The Speights ad’s are just a sick joke. It’s not even a halfway decent parody. Someone closer to the fire should write a whole new series.

Does anyone else think that the original Southern Man ads were a celebration of homosexuality? Remember the first ad where the guy is talking about his rich girlfriend, but decides not to go up to Auckland? The other Southern man gives him a meaningful look and says “Good on ya, mate”. So one guy was going to give up his girlfriend to stay with his “mate”?! Brokeback Mountain, anyone?

I reckon the ads were actually written by someone up in Auckland, who is still having a real laugh at all these Southern men…

This probably sounds a bit mental but I’m not surprised to see that a stick figure man has a penis…but for some reason I’m a bit shocked that he has balls.

Again, I feel like that’s a bit of a weird distinction to make but there you go.

Speight’s is synonymous with Southern Men and their Driza-bone jackets, it makes perfect sense to bring him back.
