Hugh Laurie is British?

posted by Ana Samways at 10:47 am

Originally known to New Zealand audiences as Captain Darling [edit: he was George] in Blackadder Goes Forth, Hugh Laurie is now most well known as Dr Gregory House. As this montage of interviews with Laurie illustrates, all the famous US talk show hosts pull out the same old , same old questions…Much to Laurie’s chagrin.

  • Amelia says:

Not Captain Darling, He is known as George.

  • Ana Samways says:

Sorry, Amelia’s right! Captain Kevin Darling was a fictional character played by Tim McInnerny in Blackadder Goes Forth.

  • Stinky Mcool says:

Oh I love Hugh Laurie. I find it amazing that Americans don’t know how awesome his career was before House.

  • Gary says:

He was also known as “the lovely Georgina” in one episode of Blackadder goes forth!

  • Biscuit says:

Prince George and his ever disappearing socks!

  • Julie says:

I preferred him as The Prince Regent, Prince George in Blackadder III. Hilarious

  • Paulo says:

And who could forget the wonderful Bertie Wooster? Laurie was born for the role, he plays such a great twit.. hope the US discovers his other work someday

  • James says:

He deserves a medal for being so patient and polite answering the exact same questions every interview!

  • Lindis says:

You mean Hugh’s not American? And he rides a motorbike? And his Dad was a doctor! Wow! Who knew?!

It’s no wonder he has to practise saying “murder.” He needs to have his alibi straight when talk show hosts start mysteriously disappearing.

  • Nickle says:

Oh come on! If actors don’t wish to answer the same talk show questions over and over – just tell their publicist they won’t participate in the talk show fest! (Same goes for countless ‘interviews’ when movies are released – very boring).
