Part garden gnome, but mostly scarecrow: This plastic Lifelike Menacing Coyote can be positioned in your foliage to make animal pests (and Jehovah’s Witnesses) think twice about darkening your door. Meanwhile, the Floating Gator Head is ideal for those who want to add a little drama to their water feature. (via WeirdUniverse.net)

We really are the arse end of the world: We have three confirmed case of Bacon Flu in New Zealand, yet we don’t even feature on Google Maps’ special map, showing the spread in ‘real time’. WTF? I am offended.

Fashion: Stevie Nicks’ style is on its way back … think billowy, diaphanous sleeves or long floor-sweeping nightie-like dresses, lots of chiffon and lace and a tambourine as an accessory.

In case you missed it: Cool, yet warm; The Sleeping Bag Suit, Not Roy Orbison, singing “Pretty Woman”, and a post from the early days of Spare Room — a reader’s chance encounter with David Bowie.

Video: Boy George endorsed this plastic-fantastic novelty Karma Chameleon phone that plays … you guessed it…

That phone should go well out West…

What are you on about? We’ve been on the flu map for days…

  • Ana Samways says:

Ohhh! The map repeats Australia and New Zealand; and I only saw the one which showed us as clean (because the other one was behind the Google Map Direction panel)…thought it couldn’t be right. Thanks rainman.

It’s ok, you’re safe if you’re in Auckland, it’s only if you live in Aukland that you should be worried. You’d think if you were using a map to locate these cases you would check the spelling while you’re there…

This swine flu, for us isn’t it mostly just a North Shore thing? I mean, life is cheap to those people.

The guy singing Pretty woman has a rather big following on Youtube…I too was charmed by his goofy performances, until I googled his name and found out he is actually a convicted Child Abuser..True. Real name Edward Muscare… http://offender.fdle.state.fl.us/offender/flyer.do?personId=2530

I love that the “Waikato” marker is on the north west tip of the South Island, past Nelson and Motueka to somewhere called “Seaford” I’d never heard of.
