Flyvertising

posted by Ana Samways at 11:26 am

At a tradeshow in Germany Eichborn, a publishing company whose logo is a fly, released actual germ carriers with wee banner ads attached to them, like skywriting planes at the beach. The banners, measuring just a few centimetres across, weighed the flies down causing the them to fly lower and land on people. Filthy and effective.

I used to have a kids activity book that detailed sticking little banner things to flys with superglue. Even at eight I thought it was a bit cruel.

  • Andy says:

No flies harmed with this stunt -the banners were attached with a natural wax that automatically released the fly after a couple of hours

Great idea – for everyone who wants their product associated with live flies…like…people who sell flies for lizard food maybe? Novel but that’s about it.

Should ever it be proven to Kevin Roberts that he is not in fact ‘an immortal’, the remote possibility of the first fly to land on his still warm corpse having an advertising banner stuck to it actually makes this idea worthwhile.
