Breakfast Pranked (Full Clip)
posted by Ana Samways at 2:13 pm
Best PR Stunt TV One’s Breakfast has been pranked on-air not once, but twice.
On Tuesday morning’s show comedian Guy Williams pretended to be a pro-commercial whaling supporter named Jay Pryor. Paul Henry clicked when “Pryor” didn’t seem to know much about whaling. Then, in C4’s new season of The Jono Project which aired on Monday night, Jono – last name Pryor – and the team caught out several mainstream media organisations, including Breakfast, with their eight-yolked egg prank – dubbed enthusiastically the Octo-egg.
During the irreverent half-hour comedy Pryor showed how he created the fake photo – by cracking eight quail eggs into a bowl and posing for the camera with a normal sized eggshell in hand. Nice work. I’m MySky-ing The Jono Project – C4, Mondays at 8,30pm. (Bogan Family Films is still utter shit, tho)
Sooo … maybe it’s time Breakfast hired some producers over 25-years old? See the full clip below. Action starts about 1.30 in…
(Thanks Simon Pound for the You Tube link!)
Here’s the first episode of The Jono Project. Damn good.

Actually I would say it’s time they hired someone under 25. Only a dinosaur wouldn’t know straight away that it was a prank. A kid would know who Jono Pryor is.

Ruh-roh. Looks like someone at TVNZ got wind. The clip’s been taken down.
Stink. I really wanted to see that. I agree about The Jono Project. Just a little bit creaky in places but on the whole, very watchable.

The clip is baaack! Come on TVNZ. It is futile to try pull it.

Hey Ana,
I’d like to set the record straight on a few things.
1. We’ve got 6 producers on Breakfast two are under 25, two are under 30, one is under 40 and the senior producer is over 50.
2. we didn’t pull down the clip, we reclaimed our copyright on it with an explanation to make it clear it was a hoax because we didn’t want to mislead anyone else. we thought that was the responsible thing to do.
3. we all know what jono pryor looks like but it wasn’t jono pryor. it was another guy (see the video clip and you will see quite clearly that that isn’t jono). That guy (whose name is actually guy) called himself jay pryor
And just one question for you… have you heard the expression, there but for the grace of God go I?
cheers

ooooh Andi touchy touchy
how the mighty have fallen !
Even the beeb have a sense of humour, where’s yours ?

Ha, Andi Brotherston’s response is actually funnier than the video itself. Get a life Andi! Y’all got punkd, move on.

Well aware that it wasn’t Jono on the show. But if I guy came on calling himself S.B.Cohen you wouldn’t twig? Maybe double check?
Jono Pryor is a prankster. The guy called himself Jay (J) Pryor. So obviously you didn’t know who Jono Pryor is or you would have figured it out before it aired. Or you’re just slow.

I want to fix the atrocious numeracy in Andi’s post.
Of six producers on Breakfast two are under 25, four are under 30, five are under 40 and the senior producer is over 50.
That equals six.
June 9th, 2010 at 4:55 pm
Karen, are you sure that’s what she means? I thought maybe it was one of those logic problems.
A show has six producers. Two are under 25, two are under 30, one is under 40 and the senior producer is over 50. How many of the producers are aged 25 or less? Answer – potentially five of them.

Which begs the question: What colour are the bus driver’s eyes?

Hey Andi,
Ana wasn’t saying that the video was of Jono, she just said Jono pranked Breakfast too. You’re so bad at improving the image of TVNZ I’ve got to question whether you’re actually PR for them or whether you’re another prankster trying to get in on the action.

If just one person on Breakfast had watched the Jono Project the night before the interview they would have known what was going on.
Guy Williams was on the show.

There are six producers on Breakfast? And no researchers obviously. I wonder how many producers Sunrise had when it was cut?
June 11th, 2010 at 6:33 pm
No researchers on Sunrise. Oliver Driver already knew everything.

i just wanted to comment on Andi’s setting a few things straight:
1. We’ve got 6 producers on Breakfast two are under 25, two are under 30, one is under 40 and the senior producer is over 50.
? shouldnt that be two under 25, 4 under 30, 5 under 40, and the dinosaur who makes decisions is outside the demographic.

That guy is awesome.
He’s better at spinning bull than winston peters. I could for see a great career for him in politics. He doesn’t really even make any points in the 5mins or so of the interview yet he answers every question.
