It’s not offensive at all, or prejudiced.

It’s just .. lame. Really lame. To find this funny you’d have to be about 15 years old. Or at least have the mental age of a teenager. High school was the last time I remember laughing at jokes like these.

If that’s how they want us to think of them, then I definitely just lost a fair amount of respect for Air NZ.

(Or in other words, I agree with Jeff.

I am so surprised Air NZ would produce anything as poor as this. Innuendo like this requires such a spectacular lack of ability and talent. It’s something I’d expect young teenagers to write while giggling. It has had an impact of my thinking of Air NZ and not in just a reactionary way – this ad really has changed my perception away from a 100% high quality brand to something less, with a cheap and nasty feel. Emirates would never do anything like this.

What is with this country all of a sudden. So a puppet can’t have an accent? And we can’t laugh at bums, bushes and cracks – there goes 90% of NZ’s Comedy – just watch 7 days. I think we should all just chill a little and take it for what it is, a little light humour.

Wrong ism I think – the sexism is just incidental. It is the inherent racism of making fun of the Central/Southern American accent is where the problem lies. Having said that, the “accent” varies so much that Rico could just as easily be from Eastern Europe. Maybe that’s where Twitchy is moving as Air New Zealand’s Siberian rep for trotting out such rubbish. So has our sense of humour changed? Would we still laugh at the English/French policeman in ‘allo ‘allo? Personally I’ve had enough of it. Fail I say.

I think they are cute and lighthearted. Only a prude would take offence to them!
I’m a proud Air New Zealand passenger and will be flying with them in a couple of weeks. Air New Zealand is a great airline in my opinion…
