Paul Henry’s TV Debut
posted by Ana Samways at 3:02 pm
Whether you’re missing Paul Henry or just missing hatin’ on him you might want to take a look at this NZ On Screen clip from 80s game show Every Second Counts. Hosted by a 24 year-old Henry, it’s a parade of cliched fashion and facial hair with some easy questions and high-tech prizes.
“Henry fronts with more groaning Granddad jokes than the PC-baiting cheek he’d later become notorious for, but early warning signs are there, disguised in a formidable 80s suit and white loafers.” Watch it here.
Or if you like something with a faster pace…
Hooked up to a heart monitor and trying to keep your heart at its resting rate while being quizzed by Matthew Ridge was the premise for a 2002 game show. Key to the success of Julie Christie’s Touchdown Productions, The Chair sold to 29 territories. And no wonder, with questions like “In which movie did Russell Crowe play a gay plumber?” Check out an episode here.

Any other conspiracy theorists notice that the ‘te maori’ exhibit was opened in 1985, in new york on september the 11th….
9.11 new york! ….
maybe there is a link between maori and international terrorism after all…
though perhaps a very very weak one

I noticed that, but I was more concerned that Paul Henry didn’t spot that his card was wrong on where Lake Rotorua is. Unless of course they moved it at some point since the late 1980s. An interesting example of public compliance in the face of a well known fact, however.
