They played a hard, loud blend of blues-rock, psychedelia and garage rock. Argent was formed in 1969 by two former Zombies, keyboardist Rod Argent and bass player Chris White. While their biggest hit was White’s ‘Hold Your Head Up’, they also recorded this original version of ‘God Gave Rock and Roll to You’, written by guitarist/keyboardist Russ Ballard. Although it didn’t chart at the time (peaking at 114) it was later covered by Kiss in 1992…
